[00:00:00] Hi4p97 I just wanted to bring your attention to an event that's occurring on November 17th that you are welcome to attend, especially if you are on campus, obviously. And I know that there are some of you who are listening to this who are not on campus this semester. But that's okay.
[00:00:17] You'll see something in your brightspace. If you look in the content section, there is a link to An Evening with Rick Westhead, it's called, and you can find that under Course Readings and, and it should be posted there also. Maybe even going to post this in the lecture, the audio lecture section as well.
[00:00:35] But there's An Evening with Rick Westhead. It's a link to an experience BU event and I want to sort of give you a heads up in terms of what this is. So first of all, if you're not familiar with who Rick Wested is, go and look him up. He is, without really that much debate, the finest investigative sports journalist in Canada right now. And his recent exploits have involved hockey culture specifically. He is largely responsible for a lot of the reporting on the 2018 World Junior Team scandal that occurred there. Also the 2004 World Junior Team scandal as well. There's been quite a few others that Rick has investigated.
[00:01:08] He's been responsible for some of TSN's really pioneering work in this, in this space. And he's coming to Brock's campus and there's an event here that's free and it's right now it's reserved to those who are on Brock's campus. And I want to make sure that my students get sort of first access to this as we have 250 total spots for there and there's been about 140ish people so far signed up. If you're interested in coming, it's November 17th, it's at 7pm in the pond Inlet.
[00:01:38] But what I need you to do this because we do we are restricted on the amount of space that we have. If you're interested, go and sign up through the link on there on, on brightspace. Again, you, you don't need to pay anything to, to be there. It is an event that, that I'm very, very, very fortunate to have put on through the center for Sport capacity. And, and also just again, it's a real opportunity, I think, for Rick as well to speak to some of hockey's future leaders in this country.
[00:02:05] And he's a really, really, really gifted storyteller. He's there to sell stories from his upcoming book called We Breed Lions.
[00:02:11] And it's about hockey culture in general, his experiences reporting on these issues, but you are not going to find a better investigative journalist. He's easily one of TSN's most high profile investigative reporters right now, and in journalists in general. And he's been at the center of a lot of these questions about hockey culture and of hockey and the hockey industry as a whole. And he's going to answer questions at certain points throughout the night as well. And it's really just an awesome opportunity to kind of meet him and talk to him and listen to his stories. This is one of those experiences we talk about in the early parts of your Spima journey that really only occur at places like Brock. He's on a CrossCanada tour right now promoting this upcoming book, but most of those swaps you'll have to pay to see him not here at Brock right now and again so November 17th at Pond Inlet. Go and register on Experience BU if you're interested in going because we let you in unless you've registered in advance, as it is right now reserved for those in the Brock community.
[00:03:06] So again, deeply consider doing it if you're able to get to campus. If you can get there for one evening, I highly recommend it. Rick is absolutely worth it. Have a great week.
